World of Warcraft (WoW) is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) created by Blizzard Entertainment.
The Warcraft games are set in a universe called Warcraft, a fantasy world brought by the game "Warcraft: Orcs and Humans" in 1994. World of Warcraft is set in Azeroth, four years after the events concluded in "Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne". With the launch of the first expansion set "The Burning Crusade", a new territory, Outland, started to be explored. The second expansion set was released in 2007 and was called "Wrath of The Lich King". In 2010 "Cataclysm" was launched, which was also known as "The Worldbreaker".
Although, at first the game was slowed by problems of stability and performance, quickly it became the most popular MMORPG based on a monthly payment. In 2008, Blizzard Entertainment has announced that the number of active players, who pay "to date", has exceeded 11.5 million. Today, there are more than 16 million active accounts on their servers.
